Beneficiaries of the 2007 Art AuctionHull Child and Family Services
Hull kids and families struggle with emotional and psychological disorders, behavioural problems, learning disabilities, mental illness, developmental delay, family breakdown, as well as neglect and abuse (physical, emotional, sexual). The children who come to Hull feel helpless and believe their futures are hopeless; many are even suicidal. Often they are society's disposable kids. Fortunately, Hull is there to help. Now, in 2007, Hull operates two dozen programs, which touch the lives of over 2,000 people each day. Hull provides a continuum of services including specialized therapy, counselling and education. Our programs are delivered in a wide variety of settings throughout Calgary (in family homes, community schools, various neighbourhoods and our residential treatment campus). As we continue to serve those in greatest need, Hull in increasing its efforts to make the community better for all children and families. Our kids learn to appreciate that they are worthwhile, loved and safe; there is hope for their future.
Hull Child and Family Services' mission is to help kids and families achieve success in their lives.
Microcredit is an innovative approach to helping the poorest people in the poorest countries of the world. Offering small unsecured loans and business advice it allows these people the entrepreneurial opportunity they would otherwise never have. The founder of Microcredit, Professor Yunus recently won the Nobel Peace Prize for creating this revolutionary new approach to giving extremely poor people a hand up as opposed to a hand out. |
